Australia’s climbing community is in mourning as a rescue operation found the body of a missing a mountaineer, who died while climbing the world’s second-highest peak, K2. 7NEWS
Rescuers made the grisly discovery of their “intact and frozen” bodies on Tuesday, according to The Times.Eakin and Cartier were on the expedition with another Canadian, Justin Dube-Fahmy, who was documenting their journey on social media.
He founded Mountaineers Downunder social media group, which has almost 3000 members, for like-minded adventurers to “discuss equipment, routes, trips and all great things related to mountaineering”.His death has shocked the global climbing community, as tributes flow for the “great legend”. Despite not seeing each other for several years, Shedden followed Eakin’s adventures from afar and they chatted every now and then “just to check in because that’s the kind of guy he was”.
