Veteran presenter and Play School host John Hamblin has died aged 87. 7NEWS
Best known for his 29-year stint presenting the children’s program, Hamblin was a fan favourite among generations of Australians.
Hamblin, who appeared in more than 350 Play School episodes, was known affectionately as “Funny John” or “Naughty John” due to his “cheeky sense of humour and irreverent nature” on the show.He retired from the show in 1999 but returned for a special guest appearance as part of the program’s 50th anniversary special in 2016.
“John had a wicked sense of humour and was not afraid of a double-entendre,” she said in a statement. “John Hamblin was my favourite Playschool presenter for many years, from when I was a child to when my first littles were babies,” Jacqualine Kerin wrote.
