On Below Deck Down Under season 1, Aesha was promoted to Chief Stew for the new series, working alongside Captain Jason Chambers. She returned for season 2, and has proven to be a great leader. When two separate sexual misconduct incidents occurred on the Northern Sun involving Bosun Luke Jones and stew Laura Bileskalne, Aesha took charge and addressed the situations immediately before things became worse.
Aesha's Brother Died From A Brain Tumor According to Stuff, Aesha's brother Reuben died thirteen years ago when he was 24 years old. He had an aggressive tumor called glioblastoma, which affects the brain. In New Zealand where Aesha lives, glioblastoma is a very common form of brain cancer.
Aesha's brother became a different person as his cancer got worse. “Slowly his face drooped, then his whole left side drooped, then he couldn’t walk ... I just didn’t know how to cope with it.” Before he died, Reuben had a whole life ahead of him. He had a job as a carpenter in the army, and recently bought a new house with his wife. Reuben was also developing a new hobby for rock and roll dancing aside from his regular job.
Aesha Is Bring Awareness To Her Brother's Illness Aesha is bringing awareness to her brother Reuben's illness by getting involved with the Peace of Mind Foundation. The not-for-profit organization is based in Australia, and supports brain cancer patients and their families. Since Aesha has over 591K Instagram followers due to her appearance on Below Deck Down Under, she's hoping to use her platform to make a difference.
