Benedict Cumberbatch doesn't have any plans to stop playing DoctorStrange in MCU: 'I’m not tired of it all yet. I really enjoy playing this character, and I’ve still got a lot left to give as him, and a lot more adventures I want to have with him.'

Doctor Strange actor Benedict Cumberbatch reveals that he has no plans of moving on from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Audiences were first introduced to Cumberbatch’s character in 2016 with Doctor Strange, where Dr. Stephen Strange turns to magic to heal his wounds after traditional medicine failed. Doctor Strange goes on to establish Cumberbatch’s character as the most powerful sorcerer in existence.

Since his first appearance, Doctor Strange has been living up to this title in other MCU projects like Avenger: Endgame and Spider-Man: No Way Home. He was also set up to appear in Wandavision, trying to help break through Wanda’s spell, but was ultimately cut from the project. Now, Marvel’s latest upcoming release is set to focus on Doctor Strange.

"I’m not tired of it all yet. I really enjoy playing this character, and I’ve still got a lot left to give as him, and a lot more adventures I want to have with him." The last few Avengers movies saw several MCU actors depart from their roles. Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark, Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow, and Chris Evans as Captain America all spent years creating movies within the MCU but have since moved on. After portraying Doctor Strange for so long, audiences might expect Cumberbatch to follow in their footsteps if he starts to tire of playing the sorcerer, but it appears he hasn't tired of being Sorcerer Supreme just yet.

It’s no surprise that Cumberbatch is in it for the long haul, as he’s no stranger to lengthy projects. Prior to taking on Doctor Strange in the MCU, his most recognizable role was in BBC's Sherlock, with the show’s 15-episode run taking almost seven years to be completed. Fortunately, this time around there's not been nearly as long of a wait to see more of Cumberbatch.
