Conor Benn has moved up in WBC rankings despite being embroiled in failed drugs test scandal
Conor Benn has moved from seventh place to sixth in the WBC’s latest welterweight world rankings.
After Benn failed two drugs tests in the build-up to his scheduled clash with Chris Eubank Jr late last year, which was since cancelled, he was initially removed from the WBC rankings.Benn was recently removed from the Ring Magazine rankings, but he has moved up the WBC rankingsThis was short-lived, however, as the organisation conducted an investigation and found ‘there was no conclusive evidence that Mr.
The WBC also offered the bizarre explanation that the adverse finding could have been down to a ‘highly-elevated consumption of eggs’.and despite having not fought in almost a year, he has now moved up one place.Throughout this whole debacle, Benn has always maintained his innocence, but he has refused to argue his case with the British Boxing Board of Control and so he is not currently licensed to fight in the UK.
Benn himself seems to believe the BBBoC have some sort of bias against him and he has said he is not interested in fighting in this country and will go elsewhere to compete. And, that looks likely to happen, as Benn revealed his next fight will take place in Abu Dhabi on June 3, with the opponent yet to be announced.
