Bette Midler has clarified her tweet about ‘women being erased’ following backlash from people claiming she was being transphobic.after tweeting: ‘WOMEN OF THE WORLD! We are being stripped of our rights over our bodies, our lives and even of our name!
Bette’s original tweet had been posted after the US Supreme Court overturned Roe v Wade, removing the constitutional right to an abortion and leaving decisions to be made by each state. ‘There was no intention of anything exclusionary or transphobic in what I said; it wasn’t about that.
