Bettina Ardnt’s “repulsive and abhorrent” commentary on the murder of Hannah Clarke is an “awful distraction” to the conversation around gender-based violence, Liberal MP Dave Sharma says.
The social commentator, who was awarded an Order of Australia earlier this year, could soon be stripped of the honour after she congratulated a Queensland detective for keeping an open mind while investigating the murder of Ms
Clarke and her three children. Mr Sharma said he “fundamentally disagreed” with Ms Arndt. “I don’t think her comments make any sort of worth wide contribution to the debate. They are an awful distraction and they are abominable,” he said.
