Police said Luis Escobar, 59, and Alvaro Jimenez, 71, each face three counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child, police said.
Detectives arrested two men at a Carrollton church Tuesday and charged them with sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl in 2018, Carrollton police said.
Escobar taught online Bible study for adults and Jimenez worked as an office assistant at Ministerios Bethania USA in the 2400 block of East Belt Line Road in Carrollton, police said. “Our thoughts and prayers go first to the victim and her family who have suffered and have had the courage to speak out,” the statement said. “We pray that God may grant them comfort and consolation with justice.”
Detectives had probable cause to get arrest warrants and both men were taken into custody without incident, police said in the release. Escobar and Jimenez were booked into the Carrollton City Jail on Tuesday and transferred to the Dallas County jail on Wednesday morning. Both men are awaiting bond hearings, police said.
