It would 'breathe life into the currently vacant and derelict site'
Proposals to create a property retirement village on a former car dealership in Daventry have peen put to local residents. Developer McCarthy Stone says the 47 apartments would "breathe life into the currently vacant and derelict site".
The developers are looking for the views of residents before finalising their planning submission to WNC. It is expected the new estate could bring £363,000 each year of spending in local shops and businesses.McCarthy Cross say the plot is an "ideal location in Daventry" with only a short walk to local shops and immediate access to town centre amenities and public transport connections.
A 24-hour emergency-call service would also be available, and 26 on-site car parking spaces, including electric charging points and disabled bays, made available for homeowners, staff and visitors. Space for internal cycle and mobility scooter storage are also proposed. The new community, located next to the High Street, is also hoped to provide a vital boost to businesses in Daventry, with a projected £363,000 of spending in local shops and businesses from residents. McCarthy Stone said it will also free up 94 family-sized and starter homes back onto the local market.
