Anthony Albanese will lead a top-level delegation of ministers and business leaders to Jakarta to revive a free trade deal that has failed to flourish because of COVID-19.

Anthony Albanese will lead a high-powered delegation of senior ministers and business leaders to Indonesia to reboot theafter two years of pandemic-related disruption nobbled the benefits from the agreement.

Talks between the leaders will take place in Jakarta on Monday, and Mr Albanese will also meet the secretary-general of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, Dato Lim Jock Hoi. The prime minister is expected to deliver a speech in Makassar on Sulawesi island on Tuesday. Australian prime ministers historically make Indonesia their first overseas trip, although Mr Albanese went to Tokyo last week for the Quad leaders’ summit.

Meanwhile, Senator Wong expressed concern on Friday that New Zealand could join Australia as a Chinese target for economic coercion.
