United States President Joe Biden was forced to end his press conference early after Iran-backed militants claimed responsibility for recent attacks on American military bases.
US troops had come under drone and rocket attacks while stationed in Iraq and southern Syria last week amid ongoing tensions over the Israel-Hamas conflict.
One drone was reportedly shot down, but the second caused minor injuries to soldiers, according to two American officials who spoke to The Associated Press. President Biden was speaking at the White House on his"Bidenomics" agenda, when he abruptly ended his remarks and left the room. "I apologise, I have to go to the Situation Room for another issue I have to deal with," he told the crowd on Sunday afternoon .
