US President Joe Biden has reached out to Australian prime minister-elect Anthony Albanese ahead of the pair meeting face-to-face for a significant Quad summit.
The duo will meet other members of the alliance, India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, in Tokyo on Tuesday to discuss a number of issues in the Indo-Pacific region, including China's rising influence.in the hours following his historic win on the weekend over outgoing prime-minister Scott Morrison.

Mr Albanese will be sworn in on Monday morning before he flies out on his first official meeting as prime minister.
