A 25-metre steel-framed bass was revealed to the public following a $2 million development of Carrawood Park in Carramar, south of Fairfield, today.The big bass was unveiled in a western Sydney park today.
Fairfield City Council chose the shape of a bass - despite the park's significant distance from the ocean - to celebrate the local First Nations people who call nearby Prospect Creek home. "Each of our parks offer something different, as does the iconic big bass play space," Frank Carbone, mayor of Fairfield City Council, said in a statement to 9news.com.au.
The NSW Department of Planning and Environment's Commissioner of Open Spaces, Fiona Morrison, said the development will draw families to the park. "It's not in the same league as the big banana in Coffs Harbour and the Mig Merino in Goulburn, but the 25-metre Big Bass will certainly be a drawcard for children in the City of Fairfield," she said.Continue reading
