The SBS commentator is looking to forward to this year’s epic race, which for the first time in 100 years isn’t finishing on the fabled Champs-Élysées.

The Tour de France will look a little different this year. Book-ending the Paris Olympics, the men’s race and the women’s Tour de France Femmes will take different routes, with the latter beginning in the Netherlands.

Calling her fifth Tour, alongside champion rider Simon Gerrans and broadcaster Matthew Keenan, O’Donnell predicts a race as spectacular as ever. O’Donnell is referring to Australian rider to watch Amanda Spratt, who is part of the Lidl-Trek women’s team. “There’s no current Australian general class rider who is likely to be a threat,” says O’Donnell. “But Lidl-trek is an important team to consider.”Beginning in Rotterdam, the Tour de France Femmes may well belong to the Dutch. “Dutch women have performed outstandingly in the first two editions of the Tour de France Femmes,” says O’Donnell.
