returned to the airwaves with HBO’s “Real Time” for the first time since the strike with only mild praise for the Writers Guild of America for settling the five-month strike.
After that as the show transitioned to a panel discussion with Maher and Sam Harris, host of “Making Sense” podcast, and author and podcaster Mary Katharine Ham, who co-hosts the “Getting Hammered” podcast and penned the book “End of Discussion: How The Left’s Outrage Industry Shuts Down Debate, Manipulates Voters and Makes America Less Free .”Before the panel ensued Maher made brief reference to the disruption in TV over the past five months.
Maher had already angered WGA members and others by criticizing the guild’s stance in the negotiation process during a discussion with comedian Jim Gaffigan on the podcast “Club Random.”
