The New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission could be required to staff a call center during weekday business hours under proposed legislation.

The MVC also rolled out an online system in October 2020 for customers to make appointments for in-person business at agencies.getting hold of a person when calling the current MVC customer service line has prompted customer complaints about long times on hold, with some posting screenshots of their phone’s “on hold time” on social media.
“It’s not uncommon for users to experience difficulties when navigating the MVC’s website,” Moen said. “This call center will give those in need of additional assistance someone to help them troubleshoot and successfully complete their online transactions.” The Assembly bill also would require the MVC to keep and publish quarterly statistics on how the call center is performing, including information on the volume of calls, the length of individual wait times, the call purpose, and the length of calls.is waiting to be heard by the senate transportation committee.
