Bill Simmons can't help but compare San Francisco with Boston over and over again in a recent podcast episode about 'So I Married an Axe Murderer.'
Bill Simmons has never been shy to share his opinion on just about any topic, whether he’s an expert or not. When the latest episode of his “The Rewatchables” podcast focused on “So I Married an Axe Murderer,” the 1993 Mike Myers comedy that’s set in San Francisco, Simmons made it clear what he thinks of the current state of the City by the Bay. “It’s weird that San Francisco is so different now where it was 25, 30 years ago,” Simmons said. “There’s a lot of reasons for that.
” Simmons, a Boston native but a Los Angeles resident, seems to relate the city he yearns for through cinema, saying, “I think San Francisco is my favorite movie location place, and I say that as somebody who loves Boston.” On his list of good San Francisco movies: “48 Hrs.” — which Simmons called “the king” — “Axe Murderer,” “Zodiac,” “The Rock,” “Basic Instinct,” “Bullitt,” “Mrs. Doubtfire,” “Pacific Heights,” “Dirty Harry,” “The Invasion of the Body Snatchers” and “The Game.
