.billiejoe Armstrong explains why President Trump just didn't inspire him

album singer/guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong said the current "nothing" commander in tweet just didn't inspire him. In an interview with, Armstrong explained that there are definitely political themes on the band's 13th album, due out on Feb. 7, 2020, but just no Trump takes.

"I mean, I draw no inspiration from the President of the United States, because he’s just… there’s nothing,” said Armstrong. “Trump gives me diarrhea, you know? I don’t want to write a song about it!” GD's previous album,, was released in 2016, just before the election that raised the former reality star and real estate mogul to the highest office in the land.

“It’s coming from a place of feeling like you’re out of control, and you’re not in charge of your own body anymore,” Armstrong said of the album's lyrics. “It paints pictures or vignettes of what life is like for me and for other people that, I feel like, are desperate. And I mean that in an empathetic way, where people in America have become very desperate with their situations.

Armstrong said his goal this time around was to empathize with other American's situations, explaining that he grew up as one of six kids of a trucker dad and waitress mom in California in the 1970s, a scenario he couldn't imagine anyone being able to afford now. "And that’s what scares me a little bit more – what’s going to happen to people in the future," he said.
