Pub scheme aims to tackle taboos about mental health in South Asian community

Shuranjeet Singh, Mikey Singh and Ricky Bhandal started the Mixy and Chill movement

The Mixy and Chill movement aims to ease access to support services and help start conversations about some of the issues involved.Punjabis, especially young men, had suffered "significant challenges" during the pandemic, he said. One scheme involves printing QR codes on pub menus which connect to support services ranging from mental health, drug and alcohol addition, sexual health and LGBTQ+ advice.

Bar staff will also receive training in a hope that "discussions about mental wellbeing become the norm in that environment", said Mr Bhandal.
