The bishop who was attacked and stabbed during a livestreamed church service on Monday night has broken his silence with an audio message from his hospital bed. Christian leader Bishop Mar Mari Emmanuel, Father Isaac Royel and two churchgoers were stabbed during the service at Wakeley’s Christ The Good Shepherd Church on Box Rd just before 7.10pm on Monday.
“His Grace Bishop Monomania, Emmanuel preaches love and peace, however, the events that took place were quite the opposite,” they said. “It is his wish that everyone resort to private prayer and to not escalate the matter any further.” The church said it expressed sincerest thanks to all first responders for their assistance during the “horrific situation”. “The support and love shown by our fellow religious leaders, government and community, has been overwhelming,” it said.
