Reece Walsh was in the spotlight long before the NRL Grand Final got underway.
The Brisbane Broncos fullback stole the limelight as he walked into the rooms looking more like a rock star than an NRL player.The Penrith Panthers got off their team bus with a boombox pumping, but they had nothing on what Walsh brought to the party.
Getting set to play in his first Grand Final, the youngster wasn’t showing any signs of nerves as he strolled in with his AirPods in and monster sunglasses. Cameron Smith cracked up on Channel 9 when he caught a glimpse of Walsh: “He has got a bit of swagger. Look at him?” Phil Gould responded: “Hopefully they feel that way in three or four hours’ time because it is going to slap them in the face if they underestimate what is about to happen out here.”But it was when the game got underway that Walsh sent a major scare throughout the Broncos camp. As the Broncos defended their own line, holding off a rampant Panthers attack, Walsh was seen hobbling in back play. A knock to the leg while attempting to stop the latest Panthers charge caught the young Broncos star and left him in the hands of trainers.Thankfully the injury scare didn’t last long as he was seen joining his teammates back in the play only moments later.Walsh went down early in the game. Pics Adam Head The injury concerns continued to pile up during the opening 40 minutes as Panther star Nathan Cleary was seen having treatment done on his knee. After the Panthers scored the first try of the game, Cleary didn’t take up kicking duties as he went straight to the trainer.But it was an injury concern to Broncos player Adam Reynolds that sent shockwaves through the contest. As he fed the ball out wide to a teammate he was taken to the ground as his legs split in the grass, with the commentary crew believing it would be a potential groin injury.Read related topics:
