NBA: Ben Simmons shows off some sweet passing talent as he hit up Cam Johnson for the Nets.

Josh Giddey had to be helped from the court and was ruled out with an ankle injury after enjoying one of his better starts to a game with the Bulls, while Ben Simmons produced a highlight pass in an otherwise poor opening half from the Brooklyn Nets.

Giddey immediately went to the ground clutching his ankle in pain before being helped to the locker room in a cruel end to an otherwise encouraging performance. The Bulls opened the second half on a 10-3 run including five points to Vucevic, who was the visitors’ leading scorer with greater responsibilities with Zach LaVine sidelined.

Simmons made an immediate impact in Tuesday’s game, pressuring Darius Garland into a bad pass which the Australian picked off and turned into a dunk on the other end. “We’re going to try play faster, the ball is going to fly... he’s going to push, he’s going to throw ahead and we’ll have more opportunities to get shots earlier in the clock, the higher quality shots.”Kustok credited Simmons for “smothering” defence early in the game while the Australian also hustled for a defensive rebound as the Nets proved to be far from easy beats against the Eastern Conference contenders.

The Cavaliers went on a 16-0 run to jump ahead 30-15 in the first quarter, having scored 17 points off turnovers already from that point, and eventually took a 37-17 lead into the second.
