Black Cat, Aaron Fischer's Captain America, Escapade, & Web Weaver all star in the first wave of beautiful Pride 2023 art from Marvel Comics.
The first wave of Marvel's 2023 Pride variant covers has been released, featuring Black Cat and Aaron Fischer's Captain America, among others. Between longtime characters coming out of the closet and the proliferation of newly introduced queer heroes, Marvel has more LGBTQ+ characters to celebrate than ever before.
Announced via Twitter on Monday, Marvel shared art for the year's first four Pride variant covers. The release also featured an announcement with further details: there will be six Pride variant covers in total, with art duties split between Lucas Werneck and David Talaski. Of the four unveiled on Monday, one is from Talaski, and it's a portrait highlighting Aaron Fischer. Fischer is a key member of the Captains Network and is known as 'Captain America of the Railways.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Gorgeous Pride Art Unveiled by Marvel Black Cat has been a fan-favorite character since her late '70s debut, but it was only in 2021 that Felicia's bisexuality was confirmed, rather than being treated as subtext. Cooper Cohen is Web Weaver, a fashion designer and Marvel's first gay Spider-Man, who made a splash among fans in Edge of Spider-Verse #5.
Marvel's Pride 2023 Is a Major Celebration Web Weaver will appear on Amazing Spider-Man #27 on June 7 , while Black Cat will adorn Amazing Spider-Man #28 on the 21st. Captain America will appear on the much-anticipated Captain America: Cold War Omega #1 on June 14, while variant covers for Immortal X-Men #12 and X-Men Red #12 will star Rachel Summers and Fang, aka Wolverine's son Daken.
Daken and Rachel Summers Covers Are Still to Come These covers clearly show that Marvel Comics is ready to get the 2023 Pride season underway, and continue to make superhero comics a genre where bigotry and prejudice are antithetical to the notion of heroism. The art featuring Black Cat, Captain America, and more will be on the stands June 2023, celebrating Marvel's LGBTQIA+ characters, fans, and creators.
