Blackpool Comedy Festival returns with Suzy Izzard and Seann Walsh topping the bill
Belly-laughs are coming to Blackpool this summer with the return of the Comedy Festival. The Winter Gardens will host the two-day event on July 7 and 8, with Suzy Izzard and Seann Walsh topping the bill.
Retuning for the first time since 2019, the festival's line-up will also feature Jojo Sutherland, Angelos Epithemiou, Tom Stade, Scott Bennett, Nina Gilligan and Tez Illyas. Two nights of live comedy will be compered by Blackpool's own MC Ryan Gleeson and celebrate the seaside resort's legacy of laugher at the Opera House.
Suzy is one of the country's best-loved stand-ups and will perform on Friday Night Laughs, While Seann, who recently enjoyed a stint on ITV's I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here, will feature on Saturday Live!Anthony Williams, from the Winter Gardens, said: “This is a hugely exciting partnership for the venue and it’s brilliant to be working with a comedy legend to bring this to the stage as part of the weekend’s programme of events.
The festival has been organised in partnership with Blackpool comedy club, Comedy Station based on Bank Hey Street. The newly-announced events join the Legends Of Variety, which will bring the curtain down on the festival on Sunday, July 9. It will also feature a range of free and reduced ticket price activates, events and workshops for families, with a drop-in area for storytelling, dressing up and Blackpool’s entertainment heritage talks. One session is specifically for families with additional needs for example Autism.
