Marvel still intends to film part of “Blade” in Cleveland, just not when the studio originally planned.
“We will repost for casting once filming returns,” Angela Boehm wrote in an email to cleveland.com.
Replacing a director this late in pre-production is unusual. But this isn’t the first time the project has been delayed. The film was supposed to start shooting in Atlanta on October 3 before being pushed back to November. “Blade” is scheduled to hit theaters on November 3, 2023. “Due to continued shifts in our production schedule, Bassam is no longer moving forward as director of ‘Blade’ but will remain an executive producer on the film,” Marvel said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter. “We appreciate Bassam’s talent and all the work he’s done getting Blade to where it is.”
“It’s been an honor working with the wonderful folks at Marvel,” Tariq added in his own statement. “We were able to put together a killer cast and crew. Eager to see where the next director takes the film.”“I’m told that the current ‘Blade’ script is roughly 90 pages and features exactly TWO action sequences,”
