Health authorities have confirmed links between coronavirus cases in Black Lives Matter protests and a cluster of 242 cases in Melbourne's towers. Latest updates:

As many as 10,000 people attended the June 6 rally in Melbourne’s CBD, despite warnings from Premier Daniel Andrews and the Department of Health and Human Services urging people to “consider other ways to show support”.

The DHHS refused to say whether members of the public housing cluster, which now includes the protesters, reside in the inner northwest towers. They also said they’re yet to establish the source of any of the interlinked clusters. However, Victoria’s chief health officer Brett Sutton has said the protest hasn’t played a significant role in the state’s surging virus infections.

Meanwhile, in NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian has ruled out sending her state back into lockdown, despite an increasing number of COVID-19 infections being linked to a Sydney pub cluster.10,061 cases of COVID-19, with 4224 in Victoria, 3316 in New South Wales, 1071 in Queensland, 443 in South Australia, 636 in Western Australia, 228 in Tasmania, 113 in the Australian Capital Territory and 30 in the Northern Territory.
