"Garry was more than just a goat; he was a cherished part of our community, bringing joy to so many of us as we passed through the area," Hartley Valley Vets wrote in a post on Facebook.

"We believe it's important for the local community to decide where this special remembrance spot will be, so everyone has a place to reflect on the joy Garry brought to our lives," Hartley Valley Vets said. The vet clinic said they were in discussion with Transport NSW and other stakeholders to arrange a permanent memorial.

The Blue Mountains local Garry is not to be confused with another famous "Gary the Goat" that died in 2017.
