Bob MacIntyre was full of emotions as he landed his maiden PGA tour crown - and his supporters were in full voice as they serenaded the golfer with an anthem out of the Rangers songbook.
The 27-year-old shared the joy of his win on the green with his dad after he took on caddie duties while his girlfriend also made an appearance in the celebrations in a moment in his career and life that the Scot will never forget. He took a four stroke advantage into the final round of the Canadian Open and would go on to hit a -2 68 in the final round to beat Ben Griffin by one stroke.
After his success MacIntyre posed with his trophy for a selfie before getting the chant up and running once again. Reacting to his maiden success, he said: “Goose bumps. It’s incredible. It’s a dream of mine to play golf for a living. It’s been a dream of mine to win on the PGA Tour. … I just can’t believe I done it with my dad on the bag. The guy’s taught me the way I play golf.”
He continued: “I was in a dog fight there. Obviously, Ben made it difficult coming in the stretch. He played well. It’s just incredible to do this with my dad on the bag and have my girlfriend here and I’m sure there’s a party going on back home in Oban.” MacIntyre is a regular on the shinty scene with Oban Celtic – who like Brendan Rodgers’ men turn out in green and white – and the club took the chance to send their congratulations online. They wrote: " That’s our men. Massive well done to Bob and Dougie! UNBELIEVABLE."
