Brothers Callum and Jake Robinson and their American friend Jack Carter Rhoad went missing during a trip in Mexico last week.
Family members of three tourists who went missing in northern Mexico last month have positively identified their bodies, the state prosecutor's office in Baja California said in a statement on Sunday. The remains of Australian brothers Callum, 33, and Jake Robinson, 30, were found in a well earlier this week in what authorities are treating as a murder investigation, according to Reuters news agency.
She said the killers drove by and saw the foreigners' pickup truck and tents, and wanted to steal their tyres. "Surely, they resisted," she said of the victims, and the thieves shot them to death. The thieves then went to what she called "a site that is extremely hard to get to" and dumped their bodies into a well they apparently were familiar with.
