A 72-year-old man from Canberra has died while after he became separated from his group on a bushwalk at Mount Anne in the south-west of Tasmania.

Police began searching for the Canberra man about 7.30pm yesterday, using a helicopter to scour the difficult terrain of the Southwest National Park. Emergency services were called to the national park after three walkers who were on a day walk to Mount Anne became separated.A search and rescue team was deployed to the area overnight.Police said the Westpac Rescue Helicopter would be used to retrieve the man's body today.
