Body of man found after days of frantic searches for missing hillwalker Patrick Monroe
The tragic discovery was made around 11am yesterday in the Tyndrum area of Stirlingshire.Police say the family of missing hiker Patrick Alan Monroe have been informed.He was last seen setting off from Pine Trees Leisure Park Campsite in the village around 8am.
Police investigations found that the 33-year-old had reached the summit of Ben Oss around 1.15pm that day. He went on to the summit of Ben Lui, reaching it around 3pm, then along the ridge to Ben A’Cleibh at around 4pm.Police believe he may have retraced his steps along the ridge back to Ben Lui or took a different route to the A85 and on towards Tyndrum.
Officers confirmed early on Friday morning that a body had been discovered in the area during their search for Patrick.
