Boerne wants residents to help replicate the city's century-old World War I memorial picture
At the end of World War I, local leaders in Beorne decided to erect a monument to memorialize the Kendall County men who had made the ultimate sacrifice for their country in the “War to End All Wars,” and on March 6, 1923, an estimated 2,000 people gathered in the park for a ceremony. Eugene Goldbeck, then considered the “unofficial photographer of America’s military,” created an panoramic photograph commemorating the day.
During the monument’s unveiling, photographer Eugene Goldbeck took a panoramic photo commemorating the event. The photo is on display at Boerne City Hall.
