Concerned residents turned out to question city leaders on two hotly debated transit measures.
As Boerne continues to grapple with its swift growth, residents packed the Boerne City Council chambers on Tuesday, Mar. 28, 2023 as the council considered two controversial transportation-related measures: A new mobility master plan and a new thoroughfare master plan.Telling residents they are doing their best to manage swift growth, Boerne City Council members have approved the first of two hotly contested measures aimed at mapping out the city’s transportation future.
The council unanimously approved the Boerne Mobility Master Plan, which the city describes as “a long-range plan that seeks to create a safer, more accessible and more efficient transportation network.” Boerne’s population grew 70 percent from 2010 to 2020 and now has close to 20,000 residents, according the U.S. Census Bureau, while Kendall County grew 33 percent during that same period and is nearing 50,000 residents.
