A man accused of the 2022 triple shooting murder of his three neighbours and the attempted murder of another man at Bogie, west of Bowen, has been committed to stand trial in the Supreme Court.

The only surviving witness to an alleged triple murder has told the court there was no history of face-to-face confrontation before the shooting.

Additional police were outside the courthouse after the hearing was moved from Bowen to Mackay due to safety concerns. They had met ten or more times, and Mr Young once gave him a carton of beer to thank him for his work on clearing the boundary line. On the morning of the alleged killings Mr Tighe said they agreed to meet at the entrance gate to Mr Young's property.

He said they were also there to return a key and a pig dog Mr Young's son had lent him to go hunting with.
