Bonfire builders say 'safety is our top priority' amid concerns

Speaking to Belfast Live, bonfire builder David said the safety of the bonfire and its builders is the team's top priority and he highlighted the measures they have in place to ensure everyone's protection

A group of bonfire builders in Larne have said that safety is their top priority following concerns over how they build their structure.

The team have been planning the structure for a year and it will consist of tens of thousands of pallets as they hope to build a bonfire taller than 198ft.However, there have been some concerns regarding the safety of the bonfire and those building it after a video circulated online showing pallets being passed from the bottom to the top of it.

He said: "The safety of those working at the bonfire site is our top priority and we are doing everything that we can to make sure that nobody is being put at risk.
