UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has thanked Tory MPs for their support amid a confidence vote while asking them to “draw a line” under the Partygate scandal.
The vote showed 41 per cent of ministers voted against Mr Johnson, who says he is now turning his attention to fundamental economic policies. Some conservative MPs are still calling for the leader to quit as they consider changing the rules around leadership challenges. Currently the waiting period for a second confidence vote is twelve months – but there is a push to reduce it to six.
