Boris Johnson is set to step down from his role as British Prime Minister following a string of resignations from more than 57 ministers in the last 48 hours.

A number of scandals have plagued Mr Johnson’s tenure since coming to office in 2019 on the back of a promise to deliver Brexit, including concerns over his handling of a sexual misconduct allegations against a senior official - Chris Pincher. Under the Conservative Party’s current rules, another leadership challenge couldn’t be mounted for at least 12 months but a number of MPs are seeking to change that.
