When Chaumet tapped the botanical director of Marrakech’s most famous garden to curate an exhibition of its treasures, he focused on gems of a different kind.

But in Paris, something slightly different is afoot.

Curated not by a gallerist but a botanist – Marc Jeanson, the botanical director of the Jardin Majorelle in Marrakech – it is a homage to the beauty of nature rather than an outright love affair with jewellery. “The most incredible moment as a botanist is when people truly see the astonishing structure and details of plants,” says Jeanson, “It is wondrous.”

It took Jeanson three years to curate it all. Works were lent by 70 museums, foundations, galleries and private collectors.
