Tributes are flowing for British boxer Sherif Lawal who died while making his professional debut. The 29-year-old collapsed during his middleweight fight in London’s northwest on Sunday night. He received immediate medical attention but paramedics were unable to revive him. In his first major bout, Lawal was taking on Portuguese boxer Malam Varela. The incident happened in the fourth round when he was knocked down to the canvass.
“Unfortunately during Sherif’s fight, he collapsed and despite the best efforts of the paramedics, he was later pronounced dead.“Warren Boxing Management would like to send our condolences to all of Sherif’s family, friends, coaches and all those close to him at this tragic time.” Fans and the boxing industry were all in shock by the sad news. “Absolutely heartbreaking, praying for his friends and family, so so tragic 😔💔,” one fan said.
