A 14-year-old boy behind the wheel of a stolen car with five mates on board allegedly clocked 160km/h in a 90-zone as he led police on a pursuit through the NSW Hunter Valley. Officers used spikes and set up a roadblock to stop the speeding Volkswagen but not before the youth rammed two highway patrol cars. The sedan was spotted on the New England Highway at Whittingham just after 10.30pm on Saturday. A chase was initiated when police attempted to pull the vehicle over.
” The alleged driver was charged with failing to stop during a pursuit, driving recklessly, taking a vehicle without consent, speeding more than 45km/h over the limit, possession of suspected stolen goods and property damage. Police claim he “travelled at speeds up to 160km/h in a marked 90km/h zone”. The four 17-year-olds in the car were each charged with riding in a stolen vehicle and possession of means to disguise their faces with the intention of committing and indictable offence.
