The teenager was arrested in west London and later released on bail, the Met Police says.
The boy, who was arrested at an address in west London on Wednesday, was detained on suspicion of possessing information likely to be useful to a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism.
Commander Dominic Murphy said: "This arrest is indicative of a continuing and concerning trend of young people being drawn into and involved in terrorist-related activity." Officers also carried out a search at an address in west London as part of the investigation, and inquiries remain ongoing.
