Boyd Cordner's cousin Joel Dark is fighting for his life after suffering a nasty head knock during a rugby league match in Newcastle.
Boyd Cordner's cousin Joel Dark is fighting for his life after a nasty head knock left him in a critical condition during a rugby league match in Newcastle."He had surgery late last night and surgery again today," Anderson said. "The good thing about Joel is he is a tough kid from the bush and he's good a lot of people around him."Anderson described as "horrible" the scene, which played out in front of spectators, including children.
The match was part of the Newcastle Rugby League competition, with Dark's side playing against the Western Suburbs at St John Oval at 3pm on Sunday. The game was abandoned after the incident.Dark played at Cordner's old club Taree Old Bar before Sunday's debut with Central Newcastle. Dark's father presented his son with his Central jersey before the game.
