Boys Soccer: Hanover Park, Rutherford advance - NJS2G2 Tournament quarterfinals
Valentino Della Grazia and Alejandro Covarrubias-Nino scored second-half goals to propel second-seeded Hanover Park past 10th-seeded Caldwell 2-1 in the quarterfinals of the North Jersey, Section 2, Group 2 Tournament in East Hanover.
The sides were scoreless going into halftime before Hanover Park outscored Caldwell 2-1 in the second half. Christian Farrell also recorded an assist while Billy Carlucci made three saves.Alejandro Miranda’s first-half goal proved to be the difference as sixth-seeded Rutherford defeated third-seeded Hackettstown 1-0 in the quarterfinals of the North Jersey, Section 2, Group 2 Tournament in Hackettstown.
Gabriel Mendez tallied an assist on the decisive goal for Rutherford while James Alati made four saves in the shutout.Eighth-seeded Lyndhurst knocked off top-seeded Harrison 2-1 in the quarterfinals of the North Jersey, Section 2, Group 2 Tournament in Harrison.Fourth-seeded Bernards defeated fifth-seeded Voorhees 2-0 in the quarterfinals of the North Jersey, Section 2, Group 2 Tournament in Bernardsville.
