His set doesn’t change much from year to year. He moves through a series of brightly colored, paisley guitars. He makes jokes. He jumps offstage to pose for selfies and shake hands.
“Before I got out here I heard them say, ‘There will be no video recording,’” he told a fan in 2019 after looking through her phone. “Yeah, you didn’t listen to that.”It’s a testament to Paisley’s charm and skill that every year is just as good, or better, than the previous one. It feels like catching up with an old friend.
Paisley himself calls the rodeo “one of my favorite gigs ever, every year.” The feeling is indeed mutual.
