Shelley Martin's husband of 20 years, Barry, lost his life in the fire on January 23, 2023.
The heartbroken wife of a hero firefighter who died after tackling a huge blaze at the Edinburgh Jenner's building is hoping to start a charity in memory of her "remarkable" husband.
Now, the mum is hoping that she can raise funds in his memory for trauma support for children. The determined 37-year-old has arranged for 10 firefighters to take on the Tough Mudder on Saturday, June 15 - a challenge that Barry was very fond of."Our world stopped turning. Barry was my best friend, my side kick, my soul mate. We met when I was 16 and he, 18. It’s an incredible love story. I am so proud of us. My heart literally glows with it.
Shelley says she has to "keep going in his memory". She added: "Barry’s injuries were extremely serious and he died on Friday, January 27 2023. I had to tell his boys who were eight years old at the time, that daddy was not coming home. "He always wanted to go back, and do it again. He and I always hoped to do it together, but we just never got the time to really commit to it with our jobs and family life.
