Oregon asserted itself as a strong player for Texas high school talent on Wednesday with seven from the Lone Star State going with the Ducks.
“We feel we can go anywhere in the nation and attack the best players in the nation and bring them aboard,” Oregon coach Dan Lanning said in a news conference on Wednesday. “There’s no doubt there’s great talent in Texas, and as long as there’s great talent in Texas, we are going to recruit it hard and make sure that talent makes it way to Oregon.”
Bowens, a 6-foot-3, 265-pound defensive lineman and a four-star recruit. He is listed No. 47 in Texas for the 2023 class. Other Texans headed to Oregon include Dripping Springs quarterback Austin Novosad, Denton Guyer safety Peyton Bowen, Flower Mound Marcus receiver Ashton Cozart and Cypress Woods defensive lineman Terrance Green. In addition, former Texas Longhorns offensive lineman Junior Angilau is transferring to Oregon.
