Should the sale of Walhallow to a Sydney buyer proceed to settlement, it will smash the $180m paid by Rich Lister Peter Hughes for Miranda Downs in Queensland.
Retail billionaire Brett Blundy has sold the Walhallow cattle station aggregation in the Northern Territory for close to $250 million to a Sydney-based asset manager – a record for a single cattle station deal.
It is the second time in seven years that the Walhallow aggregation has broken national cattle station records., it set a new benchmark for a single cattle station sale. The previous record had been about $72 million, a figure achieved both by the sale of the late cattle king Peter Sherwin’s Alroy Downs and the sale of Peter Camm’s LaBelle aggregation.
Mr Blundy – the founder of retail brands such as Lovisa, Bras N Things and property group Aventus – joined other ultra-high net worth individuals such as Gina Rinehart and Andrew Forrest in diversifying into beef production in 2010, accumulating a huge pastoral portfolio and vast livestock herds.
