The killer, 16, was caged last month alongside fellow murderer Scarlett Jenkinson.
Eddie Ratcliffe has appealed his sentence for the murder of Brianna Ghey. The killer was jailed for life and ordered to serve a minimum of 20 years behind bars.
Jenkinson was ordered to serve a minimum of 22 years, while Ratcliffe was handed a 20 year minimum term. Sources told the M.E.N. that Ratcliffe had lodged an appeal against his sentence with the Court of Appeal. Sentencing judge Mrs Justice Yip said the pair would only be released if the Parole Board decided that they 'no longer pose a danger'. Jenkinson, from Culcheth, and Ratcliffe, from Leigh, had known each other since the age of 11.
The pair fled the scene and the murder weapon, a hunting knife which Ratcliffe had bought on a family holiday to Bulgaria weeks earlier, was discovered in his bedroom. She told the killers: "I sentence you on the basis that both of you played a full part in killing Brianna and both intended she should die." The judge said Jenkinson's 'primary motive' for the killing was her 'deep desire to kill'.
