Les Bridge believes the extra trip might help Celestial Legend turn the tables on Ozzmosis in the Roman Consul Stakes on Saturday.
The spring is about development for Celestial Legend, and hall of fame trainer Les Bridge is the first to admit the colt is further advanced than even he expected as he heads into the Roman Consul Stakes at Rosehill on Saturday.
“We are still learning about him. I thought he would be a miler, but he sprints pretty well. He is still probably six months away [from his best], and you can see it when you look at him, he is still growing into his frame. “At 1100m, the other horse [Ozzmosis] was just too fast,” he said. “I thought [Celestial Legend] would go forward off that run because he had had only the one trial. He has certainly done that, and we are happy with him, but he’s going to be chasing again.It is a further test for Ozzmosis and Celestial Legend as Golden Slipper placegetter King’s Gambit also lines up in the Roman Consul.
Meanwhile, Melbourne trainer Grahame Begg has been forced north with Magic Time because of a dearth of mares races in Melbourne, which made The Nivison the perfect option for his mare on Saturday.
