The 17-year-old has been bumped up to the Reds' A-team for the Europa League campaign.

Ben Doak is capturing the hearts and minds of Scotland and Liverpool fans everywhere, and the up and coming talent has been named on the A-List of the Reds' squad for the Europa League.

Jurgen Klopp has shown huge votes of confidence in the 17-year-old since he made the switch from Celtic to Anfield for a coup fee of just £600,000. Doak has dazzled for the Premier League giants when given the chance, romping their academy team at a canter and being particularly impressive in pre-season. It's why every Scotland fan believes the winger is the future hero of the Tartan Army, and he continued that vein of form for Scot Gemmill's Under-21 side against Spain on Monday.

Liverpool fans have been waxing lyrical about the flying Scot since his emergence on Merseyside, and now the youngster, he should have been on the club's B-List, has made the cut on the main list for Klopp's squad to take on LASK, Union St Gilloise and Toulouse in Europe's second tier competition. And it's not for the reason many would assume, due to a UEFA rule, Doak can only play in the competition if he is on the club's top list.

Teams are allowed to select 25 players on List A, but Liverpool can only select from 23 due to their lack of homegrown players, so Doak's inclusion comes at the expense of veteran keeper Adrian. Normally, Doak would have been named on the club's B-List as long as they have been at the club for an uninterrupted period of two years. However, the winger does not meet this criteria after joining from Parkhead in 2022. B-List players can be named 24 hours prior to a game.

It means Klopp drops a willing deputy in the 36-year-old goalkeeper for the talents of Doak, a huge vote of confidence in the youngster. It's the same picture for new signing Ryan Gravenberch for joined from Bayern Munich in the summer. The midfielder is 21 and therefore makes the squad under the A-List.
